Naiya Sophia

20 October 2006

Hello family and friends,

We're all three home safe and happy. Thank you so much for all of your kind words of support and welcome for our beautiful Naiya Sophia. Her birth was such an incredible experience for us. Our labor started at home at about 5am on Saturday morning and we were at the hospital by about 4pm. All the nurses and the doctor said everything went really quickly. Time for me was non-existent, but for Ryan, I don't think "quick" would be among any of the words he'd use to describe watching that amazing event. Our lovely girl was born Sunday morning at 12:41 am. We had no complications and were able to deliver drug free just as we had hoped. That has made my post-delivery time really easy and nearly pain free. I was able to walk and shower and take pictures of Ryan giving Naiya her first bath immediately after her birth. She is a picture of perfect health and, at least thus far, is an incredibly content and peaceful baby. We could not have asked for a more wonderful birth or a more incredible child.

(time passes...)

My mom and dad were here for Naiya's first two weeks and Ryan had those two weeks off as well. Ryan's folks, Donna and Wayne, were also here for a week and the families got a chance to meet each other for the first time. We so appreciated our time together as an extended family. Mostly we lounged around the house, took walks now and again and enjoyed all the delicious meals everyone cooked for us.

(...time passes again...)

After almost three weeks, we still feel like we have a perfect baby. At her two week check-up, she had already gained a pound and her doctor pronounced her in excellent health. Ryan is back to work and Naiya and I are trying to establish some kind of routine. All are happy and continuously grateful for everyone's love and support.

We wish you all a joyful fall season and send you our love.

xoxo
